Rove wrong about Americans thinking highly of Bush personally

Yesterday when addressing the right-wing American Enterprise Institute, White House Adviser Karl Rove unleashed the notion that while most Americans might not agree with him, they like him personally:

"The American people like this president," Rovesaid. "His personal approval ratings are in the 60s. Job approval islower. And what that says to me is that people like him, they respecthim, he's somebody they feel a connection with, but they're just sourright now on the war. And that's just the way it's going to be."

This prompted a number of pollsters to question what world Karl Rove just come back from?  Look at this USA Today/Gallup Poll released around the beginning of this month:

"Thinking about the following characteristics and     qualities, please say whether you think it applies or doesn't apply to     George W. Bush. How about     [see     below]?"

"Is honest and trustworthy"

Applies - 41%

Doesn't Apply - 56%

Unsure - 3%

"Shares     your values"

Applies - 40%

Doesn't Apply - 58%

Unsure - 2%

So there you go.  Besides, if I were Karl Rove, I would be worrying about myself right about now.
