NBRA: Democrats want to keep us poor

Another GOP front group is launching misleading ads about Democrats right before the election.  But this one gets really dirty, and even accuses Democrats of starting the KKK.

The National Black Republican Association is releasing a radio ad claiming that the Democrats started the KKK, voted against civil rights and the minimum wage, and "released those vicious dogs and fire hoses on blacks."  The group even said that Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican.  But if that's true, then tell me again why did only 11% of African-Americans vote for Bush in the last election?

The 60-second advertisement is shaped as a casual conversationbetween two African-American women, with one explaining to the otherhow Democrats have "bamboozled" blacks into believing that their partyhas done more for the civil rights movement than the Republican Party.

The character named "Tina" claims that Democrats "passed those BlackCodes and Jim Crow laws," "started the Ku Klux Klan," and "releasedthose vicious dogs and fire hoses on blacks."

Between 1997 and 2003, only 7% of blacks described themselves as "Republican".  And in a 2005 ABC Poll, only 26% of blacks believed that George Bush cares about black people.  Numbers are hard to argue with. 

Right now, the GOP are desperate to get any votes that they can in swing races, even if that means completely defaming the other side and turning their heads like nothing happened.  But we've grown accustomed to that, haven't we?
