O'Reilly no longer keynote speaker at Missing Children dinner
Originally, the had scheduled Bill O'Reilly as its keynote speaker at an event in Collier County, Florida. Due to the huge outcry online against that idea, the Fox News host has been dropped from the event. John Walsh will now take over as the keynote speaker.
:
In response to the numerous e-mails and inquiries we have received, we are providing the following update regarding the Collier County, Florida branch fundraising dinner scheduled for March 9, 2007 in Naples, Florida. Bill O’Reilly, host of The O’Reilly Factor, will not be a speaker at the dinner. The dinner will be held as scheduled. John Walsh, host of America’s Most Wanted, will be the keynote speaker.
We would like to thank everyone for their comments and e-mails.
It looks like Bill-O underestimated the power of online activism. The is such an important organization. They would be smart to bring the nation together around their cause, as opposed to allowing a divisive host to go off on tangents and spout off his right-wing agenda at that event. They made a wise decision.
The spin from Bill O of what happened will be interesting. My prediction:
Bill: "The far left bias "Hounded" the NCMEC about something I had said, which let me tell you! was valid and many many people agreed with me, including the FBI. The left put so much pressure on the organization they decided to have me speak would have taken away from the cause, and I will be no part of that, as you all know the organization stands for what I am a truly believe in and will continue to do so...now let's talk to my guests and find out why the far left is against an fine organization like the NCMEC" "Go ahead Michelle"......
