Republican lawmaker threatens Bush impeachment -- on immigration issue
It is tough for President Bush to get any political supporter these days, including Republicans. While Democrats and some Republicans are after him on the war, far-right Republicans are playing just as tough on immigration. The recent arrest of two border patrol agents for shooting an unarmed alleged drug smuggler is angering the conservative base. Over the weekend, things went a step further. After one of the officers was assaulted by an inmate in a Mississippi jail, California GOP lawmaker :
"Itell you, Mr. President, if these men -- especially after this assault-- are murdered in prison, if one of them lose their lives, there'sgoing to be some sort of impeachment talk in Capitol Hill."
Oh, I get how it works. More than 3,000 Americans have died in a war that was based on a lie, but only when two border patrol agents get put in jail it suddenly becomes acceptable to use the I-word.
While enduring the O'reilly factor a few weeks back i saw a guest who explained that these patrolmen shot an unarmed man 15 times while the man was running FROM them. They then proceeded to tamper with evidence.

Why am I not surprised? Yep, definitely worthy of impeaching the President over. lol

If the republicans tried to impeach him because of immigration, would the dems block it because they agree with him on immigration?
Oh the irony.

George, you are a dolt.
Why don't you TRY and get educated about a topic BEFORE opening up your gob?
Being in California I have tracked this story closely.
They did not shoot the man 15 times. One round hit him in the ass (a round is one bullet, George..stay with me), SO HE CLAIMS, but there is no evidence supporting that.
The man was an illegal alien drug smuggler who turned towards them and they thought he had a weapon (I would think so too as carrying millions of dollars in drugs would lead you to think that the drug smuggler probably was packing...George, "packing" means carrying a gun.)
Todd, way to weigh in with your "nothing" commentary as well.
These 2 border patrol agents, one who was highly decorated got 10 and 11 years in prison for doing their job.
There were other agents there and supervisors as well, the incident was discussed at the scene and later one of the agents even did the paperwork write up, even when his boss, said he didn't need to bother with it.
Bush, so far has his head up his ass on this one.
If he does not pardon these 2 border patrol agents, I would welcome some sort of condemnation of him on this matter, don't know if you could impeach him though.
By the way, the drug smuggler was given immunity for his testimony.
The judge also did not allow some key evidence to be entered in the trial.
If you guys don't think this was a total miscarriage of justice, then you both have your heads up your collective asses.

more news on those Agents.
One was beaten up after they put him in with the general population in prison.
The guy has a wife and kids and is basically a cop and they put him with the regular populous?
4 illegal alien criminals beat him up...go figure...lets keep those borders easily accessible.

Ted, You sound so angry dude? Is everything ok?
I was just quoting what i saw on the O'Reilly Factor. Funny this is, i'm totally serious. I suppose I should have known better than to trust what i hear there huh? I appreciate your insight though. Thank you.

Ted, what kind of message does this send to our enemies in Iraq for you to talk about our President like that?
Posted by: | 2007.02.08 at 07:35 PM
Yes, in this instance I am angry!
That doesn't happen much, but when blatant injustice is done to one of our law enforcement types, that chaps my hide.
Todd, great insight once again (sigh).
This is not a "no confidence in the mission against terrorism" view.
This is a "why are you letting a border patrol officer take the fall for some illegal allien drug smuggling punk" view.
If anything, it would tell the scum drug smugglers on the other side of the border that Americans aren't going to bend backwards for you.
And I wouldn't just want my representatives just passing some whimpy meaningless resolutions about this. I want my guys pounding the issue of Pardon till it happens.

Yes, it will hurt our troops. Because if you doubt our commander-in-chief on anything, who is obviously doing a great job, then the terrorists will pick up the newspaper and say, "You know, since the USA is behaving like a democracy and is critcizing their leader, I think I'm going to go launch an attack in Iraq."
lol On one hand, you guys are saying that terrorists are out to kill us no matter what. Then on the other hand, you guys are so worried about emboldening the enemy. Isn't that hypocrisy?
On the immigration thing, let me ask you a question: how far is too far for a border patrol agent? Without spouting off Limbaugh talking points, I honestly want to know YOUR OPINION. How far is too far? Is there ever a line that cannot be crossed?
Posted by: | 2007.02.09 at 04:48 PM
No it isn't.
Todd what is your major malfunction?
Me saying that the Pres has his head up his tookis on this Border agent travesty isn't even close to saying that I have no confidence in our Military being successful in Iraq, and "See terrorists.. the Americans are angry for Bush not backing up their Border Patrol agents..they are sending us a message that they have no spine..''
That doesn't quite fit.
Passing random meaningless "we don't think America can Win" resolutions is a resounding message to terrorists that we cannot stomach war, we are a paper tiger.
This has nothing to do with the Border patrol agent posts I am talking about.
We get it Todd, you hate the war and hate the troop increase..blah blah blah
Just as on Capital HIll, we don't need you passing some resolution either, everyone knows where you stand on the issue, just as everyone knows where each Senator stands, no resolution needed.
How far is too far for a Border Patrol agent?
Hey, if a border patrol agnet shoots at some random Mexican trying to cross the border, who is running away back towards Mexico, then I see a problem.
The agent shooting at a DRUG SMUGGLER who 100% of the time is packing is not crossing the line.
My gripe is that his aim was crappy and they didn't hit him and leave one more drug smuggling loser for the vultures.
Why are you not backing these guys in their thankless jobs on our borders and backing a drug smuggling illegal?
Like we don't have enough gang probs in LA without more criminal elements coming across from Mexico.
Todd, I don't believe you know much about this case and are just arguing for the sake of it.
Just as with cops, I give benefit of the doubt to Border Patrol Agents. I am sure there are some bad eggs, as there is in all walks, but these 2 guys were not in the wrong.
The question I have to you, is why are you siding with a drug smuggler's word on what happened?
