(Video) Al Franken officially announces Senate run

Today, Al Franken -- radio talk-show host, author and co-creator of Saturday Night live -- formally announced his 2008 run for the U.S. Senate seat in the state of Minnesota.  The seat is currently held by Republican Norm Coleman, who defeated Paul Wellstone back in 2002.

Here is a video of Franken's announcement, which like just about every candidate these days was done online:

Al Franken's Senate campaign web site is up and going.

The GOP already has started digging up dirt on him.

I think Al would make a pretty decent politician. He seems to be up front and talks like "one of the guys". All I know is the "standard" politician's took us down many a bad road in the past, and maybe it's time to start thinking "outside the box" or in this case "the hill"

As far as any dirt on him or any other politician, I don't really care about most of the dirt...i.e. drugs when they were kids, cheated on their spouse, wrote anti- establishment articles in their college paper...I do however care about payoffs/stealing, child abuse,...you get the point. The days of "I didn't inhale" are over. Oh well.
