(Video) Neocon continues to promote false claim about Iraq WMD

Frank Gaffney -- a neoconservative and head of a new group called "Victory Caucus" that smears any Republicans that oppose Bush's war policy -- told Tucker Carlson today that Saddam Hussein had weapons that he was going to use in U.S. cities.  Here is the video:

Partial Transcript:

GAFFNEY: We now know that Saddam Hussein had hot production lines for biological and chemical weapons.

CARLSON: You really believe that?

GAFFNEY: This is what the Iraq Survey Group determined.  Hot production lines and both plans to ramp them up once sanctions came off and to put them into aerosol cans and perfume sprayers to send to the United States and Europe.

Simply amazing!  That is called lying.  Here was what the Iraq Survey Group actually reported:

While a small number of old, abandoned chemical munitions have been discovered, ISG judges that Iraq unilaterally destroyed its undeclared chemical weapons stockpile in 1991.  There are no credible indications that Baghdad resumed production of chemical munitions thereafter, a policy ISG attributes to Baghdad’s desire to seesanctions lifted, or rendered ineffectual, or its fear of force againstit should WMD be discovered.

Even President Bush has admitted the exact same thing.  In 2004, this was Bush in his own words:

The chief weapons inspector, Charles Duelfer, has now issued acomprehensive report that confirms the earlier conclusion of David Kaythat Iraq did not have the weapons that our intelligence believed were there.

Nice try, Mr. Gaffney.

Gaffney might be the closest there is in neocon land to Bush. Take this quote from last summer:

"The longer we play into this notion that as long as we are talking to them, all is well, the more certain it is, in my estimation, that we will find ourselves at war with iran, north korea or, perhaps, both."

How great is that! To paraphrase: We should stop talking and attack Iran otherwise, he's pretty sure, we are likely to find ourselves at war with Iran! To Gaffney's credit, he kept a straight face throughout. Wow!
