30% of Americans proud of the Iraq war

The fact that 30% are still proud of what we are doing over there -- after all that has happened in the last four years -- is beyond imagination.  This CNN Poll focused on the country's emotional response to the war:

According to the results, 35 percent of Americans are confidentabout the war, the poll said. When the war began, 83 percent ofAmericans expressed confidence in the campaign.

Similarly, 30percent of those polled this month said they were proud of the war, asopposed to 65 percent who expressed that sentiment in 2003.

Thepoll also showed that 33 percent of Americans are afraid of the war and55 percent are worried by it.

On the surface, some of the questions in this poll might seem kind of thoughtless.  But for parents that worry about how their children's lives will be like years from now, many are afraid about our country's insecurity as a result of this war.  Some parents worry about the roughly $8 billion that we are spending each week.  Some parents worry about more terror attacks as a result of our involvement in the Middle East.  Some parents worry about a possible draft.  The list goes on.

So yes, there is a largely negative emotional response in this country to the Iraq war.
