3.18.07 Blue Radar

Each morning I post some of the miscellaneous politicalstories thatmight not deserve their own posts, but are still news-worthy.  Be sure to check out The Blue State on Youtube, which is located under "Menu."  It includes all of the political videos that are featured on this site:

• The US Dollar has hit a three-month low against the Euro and Yen over concern of a slowing US economy.
• Five more US soldiers were killed over the weekend in Iraq, bringing the total number of deaths to 3,216.
• Does this qualify as rock star status?  Barack Obama drew a crowd of 10,000 in downtown Oakland on Saturday.
• In New Mexico, Governor Bill Richardson is expected to sign a bill that would legalize medical marijuana.
• On Monday or Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee will vote on whether to subpoena Karl Rove.
• Dubai Ports World sold its U.S. port operations to AIGGlobal Investment Group, which earns a profit of a $400 million -- according to the WSJ.
• The Pentagon is awarding large jet contracts even though many of the jets are riddled with design flaws.  Recent spending on these jets are up 12%.
• The European Union is pledging to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2020.
• Washington State Senator Eric Oemig has introduced legislation to impeach President Bush.  It will likely lead to a floor debate in the Washington State Legislature later this month.
