3.3.07 Blue Radar

Here are the miscellaneous politicalstories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are still news-worthy.  Be sure to check out The Blue State on Youtube, which is located under "Menu."  It includes all of the political videos that are featured on this site:

  • Francis J. Harvey, Secretary of the Army, has resigned due to the Walter Reed scandal.
  • According to the vote ratings in the National Journal, Chuck Hagel is the most conservative of all the GOP Senators running for president in 2008.
  • Joe Lieberman, of all people, will give the Democrats' Weekly Radio Address.  (Democrats are just trying to keep him from becoming a Republican.)
  • Excerpt of Barack Obama's speech on Iran: "One of the most profound consequences of the administration's failedstrategy in Iraq has been to strengthen Iran's strategic position;reduce U.S. credibility and influence in the region; and place Israel and other nations friendly to the United States in greater peril."
  • "My claim is it's working," President Bush said of the No Child Left Behind Act.  He wants it renewed.  (If it's working, then maybe he should explain why it has been under-funded by $80 billion?)
  • Henry Waxman wants the former Walter Reed Medical Chief to testify before the House Committee on Government reform.  The Pentagon is trying to block that from happening.
  • John McCain defeated Rudolph Giuliani in a South Carolina Republican straw poll.
  • The jurors in the Scooter Libby trial asked the judge to clarify what the phrase "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt" means?  Here was part of the note sent to the judge: "Specifically, is it necessary for the government to present evidencethat it is not humanly possible for someone not to recall an event inorder to find guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
  • Fox News just won't give up on Obama, will they?  Fox's John Gibson claimed Barack Obama's ancestors owned slaves.  This was in response to the story about Al Sharpton and Strom Thurmond.

If these stories are old news to you, let me know.  Feel free to add any new stories in the commentbox.
