Czech village votes 71-1 to reject US radar base

It's not just "Old Europe" -- as Rumsfeld called Western Europe -- that dislikes the United States.  Eastern Europe is not fond of our policies either, and therefore is afraid to align with us on a number of important defense measures.  Some residents of the Czech Republic, a member of the "coalition of the willing," have rejected the Bush Administration's push to establish a missile radar base there:

The residents of a village in the Czech Republic have voted overwhelmingly to reject a radar station that would form part of the US missile defence shield.

Only one of the residents voted yes, while 71 of the 90eligible voters were opposed, said the mayor of Trokavec, 70km (44miles) from Prague.

Of course, those villagers do not have any say over the final decision.  However, it is symbolic of the perception throughout the world that Bush's policies are making things more dangerous.  This has made local populations, such as in the Czech Republic, less willing to be associated with those policies.
