The most stressed out politician in America
While working endlessly each day to break through all the Obama-Hillary hype, John Edwards has something even more important to worry about. His wife's cancer has returned. Early this morning, the reported that John Edwards would suspend his presidential campaign. Although that later turned out not to be true, the former North Carolina Senator did hold a press conference about his wife's condition. The campaign will go on. But I would hate to be in John Edwards' position right now -- having this on your mind every single day you campaign.
Even worse for John, while his wife's cancer is treatable, it is not curable. :
"The campaign goes on," the former senator from North Carolina saidat a news conference, contradicting earlier media reports to thecontrary.
John Edwards said tests this week had shown his wife,Elizabeth, had cancer in a rib on her right side. He said the cancer istreatable but not curable.
"We are very optimistic about this," he said, noting that the tumor is small in size and has a "relatively minimal presence."
"I expect to do next week all the things I did last week. And the week after that, and next year at the same time," she said.
He said, "You can go cower in the corner and hide or you can go outthere and stand up for what you believe in. We have no intentions ofcowering in the corner."
It turns out that John was thinking about quitting, but Elizabeth may have convinced him to continue, says Candy Crowley of CNN:
"Elizabeth is not going to let him get out," the friend told Crowley before the Edwards' announcement.
Imagine that. You get told that your wife has cancer, and that it's not curable. How do you take that kind of news? Because it's treatable, it will need to be fought day by day, test by test. If anyone is ready for that fight, it is Elizabeth. She is a tough woman. Like Michelle Obama, Elizabeth would make a strong First Lady, and tick off many of the conservative Stepford wives out there.
We're all wishing her the best in fighting that cancer!
You mean there's no cure - even with stem cells? Why hasnt someone researched that more?

Edwards should be by his wifes side. Been through cancer wth aunts, mother, and younger sister. Forget being president. Enjoy family while they are alive.

Who are we to tell another family how to deal with their own problems? Besides, this is a heck of a lot better than what Newt Gingrich did when his wife had cancer.
By the way, Carl, how have you been? Long time no see. How do you think your Bosox will do this year? I'm cautiously optimistic about the Mariners. If the Red Sox were in the AL West, they would clean house.

Just thought it was wierd to that they didn't even hold hands. My wife would be hanging on for dear life.
Looks good for the sox. Dice-K looked good in his last outing.
Jenn got an engagement ring for christmas. And at the moment I'm watching the maine hockey bears ahead in the first round of the NCAA playoffs 4 to 1 after 2 periods.

Todd, can you give me some tips on the Mariners - i have a fantasy draft tomorrow: what's the truth about Beltre, Sexson, Ibanez? Is Ibanez seriously good? How about the rest of the AL West - any sleepers - i never see them so i usually never touch players from out there and it comes back to bit me. I'm such an NL East kind of guy.

I agree with Carl in that it was strange that they didnt hold hands. However, it is their choice about whether to pursue the Presidency so what can i say? Not that he's going to get the Presidency anyway - i really just wish he'd go home already so Obama can take all of his votes, which is what i assume would happen.

George, please, by all means, stay the hell away from Sexson and Beltre. Ibanez is the real deal. You will get more points with him. Also, you might want to look into Ichiro. He doesn't commit errors in the field, and he hits above .330 every year. If you are looking for an excellent pitcher, get Felix Hernandez. The guy is only 20 years old, and will be the Mariners' opening day starter.
Carl, it was strange that they were standing so far apart. But come on, he is a strong, independent woman... and she didn't need to be holding onto her guy.
Tell your daughter Jenn congrats for me -- that is if she even remembers me from like 10 years ago. I wish her all the best!!
