As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

  • Yesterday, John Kerry formally debated Newt Gingrich on the issue of global warming.  You can listen to the audio of that debate here.
  • A new AP poll puts Nancy Pelosi's approval rating at 46%, and her disapproval rating at 44%.  4% have mixed opinions, and 6% are unsure.  Pelosi's approval rating is down from its 51% high in January.
  • The Senate is once again about to take up the issue of stem cell research.  The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act will be voted on either today or tomorrow.
  • John Edwards is making a pitch to the gay community.  In a press release yesterday, the Edwards Campaign touted the 25 members of their staff that are homosexual.
  • The United States is taking legal action against China for pirating and blocking access to video games, movies and other software.  The action is being made through the WTO, with the U.S. charging that China is breaking its 2001 WTO entry agreement.
  • According to the AP, the subpoena issued yesterday against Alberto Gonzales "seeks hundreds of documents either withheld or heavily blacked out by his department."
  • The Los Angeles Times reports that Bill Richardson's people are not worried that the Democratic presidential candidate remains far behind in the 2008 race.  "Richardson's advisors say they're not worried -- it's too early forlongshots like the governor to pull ahead, and they expect hisunvarnished, outsized personality to charm primary voters," the Times wrote.  "He contendshe has a better chance than the other underdogs: 'I'm perfectly contentto be the only candidate in the second tier.'"
  • The original notes from Bob Woodward's meetings with "Deep Throat" have been released by the University of Texas.
  • New York's 19th district will be the front lines in the GOP's effort to take back the House in 2008.  Kieran Michael Lalor, an Iraq war veteran, will likely become the Republican nominee that will challenge freshman Democratic Congressman John Hall.
  • Between 1995 and 2005, CEO pay went up 298%, while workers' wages went up 4.3%
