4.16.07 Blue Nightowl Clips

Welcome to a brand new work week.  Don't sweat it though -- there are a lot of things going on this week in politics to help you pass the time.  Tuesday, Alberto Gonzales will testify under oath.  We will blog live as it happens.  And then more debate on stem cells and Iraq.

As I post in the middle of each night, here are some of the political clips circulating on the blogs tonight:

1. Vet of Iran-Iraq war offers a deep perspective into his war experience.  This guy draws some amazingly emotional parallels.  This is REALITY.
2. Wallace takes on Graham.
3. Bill Maher on elitism in the Bush Administration.
4. Russians protest against government.

I would suggest that you follow the common practice of providing some warning when posting images or video that are deeply disturbing or contain scenes of actual violence in which deaths are shown. I happened across this and was upset by what I saw.
There was no warning that this was a disturbing clip.
I have tuned in to this blog nearly daily for two years and nothing in my previous experience would make me have my guard up.
Perhaps in your video game action movie sensitivity, you would be suprised that someone may be disturbed by this. But I find it abhorrent that you would not provide a disclaimer on this blog.
Unexcusable.
PS. I otherwise think it's good to post real images even depicting highly disturbing scenes, and only object to your failure to provide any warning.

Brien, I was in a bit of a rush when I posted the videos last night. I did not watch that video in its entirety. If I would have known that there were such disturbing images, I would not have posted it. I am so sorry about not posting a disclaimer. Maybe next time I should actually take the time to watch the entire video before I post it next time. I am very sorry Brien.

I deleted the video. And in the future you won't ever need to have your guard up unless I post a disclaimer. Again, I'm sorry.

I figured that was the case. Again, I don't object to showing graphic images of the war and reminding people of the reality of what we're doing over there. We would never tolerate security forces taking such actions in the US, and yet we do it over there. It just needs fair warning.
Keep up the good work and we'll keep a vigilant eye on you.
