Bush Changes the "Rules" (Again)
And yet another one out of the mouth of our “I believe strongly that politicians in Washingtonshouldn’t be telling generals how to do their job…. And therefore I willstrongly reject an artificial timetable withdrawal and/or Washington politicianstrying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job.â€
I wonder what the new catch phrase will be; That was Then, This is Now;I Was against it before I was For it before I was against it; or the everpresent Heh heh heh?
When President Bush goes before the American people tonight to outline hisnew strategy for Iraq, he will be doing something he has avoided since theinvasion of Iraq in March 2003: ordering his top military brass to take actionthey initially resisted and advised against.
Bush talks frequently of his disdain for micromanaging the war effort and forsecond-guessing his commanders. "It's important to trust the judgment ofthe military when they're making military plans," he told The WashingtonPost in an interview last month. "I'm a strict adherer to the commandstructure."
Remember when because he disagreed with the President?
The majority of the politicians, the American citizens and the Generalsdisagree with Bush and he continues down the same path. And he continues to changethe rules, but not through recommendations by the generals and his advisors(if it were, then we wouldn't be talking about this right now).
This is maddening, Tony.
1) He doesn't tell the Generals what to do, but he only puts Generals in place who will do what he wants.
2) He wont tell the General what do? He's the fucking COMMANDER IN CHIEF! This is his primary job. Is he saying that he doesnt necessarily agree with the mission but the magical Generals are telling him to just stay on board and so he does because he doesnt want to interfere with their war? Is that what I'm hearing? He's dodging all responsibility for the war management here.
3) We have a civilian controlled military. The military isn't some 3rd party corporation who plays by some other set of rules. They report to Bush who reports to the People. He's negligent and he deserves to be impeached.

Bush's total disregard for anyone that disagrees with him is criminal in itself. I hope that after todays press conference more republicans might jump ship. How many times can this guy tell us (everyone) to "f*ck off" before even the most loyal bushees bail?
(just saw this on the news @ 10:00: a 4th grader brought a hand grenade to school..they don't believe it was live. I wonder if his parents knew about it, or even said "hey, I have something for you to bring for show & tell")

I can always tell when Tony's writing. There's a flippancy to it that Todd doesn't have. I love it.
I swear if I ever get through graduation my post count will skyrocket. Until then load up the sarcasm enough for both of us!

Good man, Tony. And George: I'm concerned for your blood pressure...yours, and all of ours these days.
As for me, I wonder how long the American people, and their Congress, are really going to sit still and watch their country being bullied, sullied, and mutilated by a stark raving maniac? The guy's certifiable!
~and even as we watch, he's g-e-t-t-i-n-g increasingly incoherent, and embattled.
And speaking of nut behavior: let's hear something from all of you about the Karl Rove melt down at the very sight of Cheryl Crow. Now there was a text book performance! And, I thought, indicative of the real hysteria behind the walls.

granny, Rove could have "gracefully" listened for a moment, and then asked them to call his office (even though it would have been "smoke"), but he decided to take the administrations cookie cutter stance "I'm better than you and how dare you question or approach me". That little muffin man needs to be put in his place.

When it's all said in done, I find myself debating...well..myself about whether Bush is stubborn or just plain insane (Benjamin franklin's definition of insane)? To be honest, I truly hope he is insane. If this is plain stubbornness, then this is border-line criminal.
lol Erick, yeah, I find myself getting a little too structured in my posts. That's partly why I brought Tony and you on-board. Having just one kind of writing style on a web site can be boring. Good luck with graduation....and make sure you don't lose your hat when you throw it.
