The Green War Zone

So, a suicide bomber makes his way into the GreenZone (aka. Emerald City), then into the parliament building's cafeteria andblows himself and 8 others up. How could that possibly happen? The Whitehouse(and Senator McCain) are telling us how safer Baghdad is, and the Green Zone isthe safest part of Baghdad, so how is this possible?

A U.S. military spokesman, Navy Lt. Matthew Breedlove, said there were signsthat the parliament attack was the work of someone wearing a "suicidebelt." He did not elaborate, but witness accounts supported that scenario.

(Inmy best Jon Stewart impersonation rubbing my chin) hmmm, ah ha!...the suicidebelt!

Three workers in the cafeteria of Iraq's parliament weredetained for questioning yesterday over the deadly suicide bombing that rippedthrough the heavily guarded building the day before.

Hasan al-Senaid, from the ruling Shia Alliance bloc, said some  parliamentary guards were also being investigated, but none were held.

Inmy opinion the larger issue is starting to arise. When we first went intoBaghdad it was tough enough to recognize the enemy, but now we have lost many ofthe Iraqi peoples support. So the Iraqis that were once recognized as friendly, could possibly now be the enemy. This coupled with Turkey wanting to enter Norther Iraq to strike back at the Kurdish guerrillas, and any and every other issue that has arisen, will hardly get the administration another Mission Accomplished banner.
