Sorry about being late on this today. Didn't get to sleep until very late last night. So as I post each day, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:
- Just a reminder that to $0.41 on Monday.
- Al Qaeda in Iraq claims it has the that went missing in Iraq.
- John McCain said this morning on that he would be willing to go back to the Baghdad market, "With or without military protection."
- September looks to be the cut-off month when Republicans will make their decision on whether to keep backing the President on Iraq. As the reported this morning, "As the Democratic-controlled House passed yet another war spending billlast week, and Mr. Bush promised yet another veto, some members of hisown party went to the White House with a blunt warning: We’re with younow, but if there is no progress by September, all bets are off."
- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has set a deadline of next week for lawmakers to reach an agreement on immigration reform. The reports that secret negotiations are continuing: "With a deadline looming next week, senators locked in intense, secretnegotiations over how to overhaul America's broken immigration systemsay they are closing in on a 'grand bargain.'"
- AP: Bush approval at 35%. Here is a of Bush's average job approval trend since 2005.
- This morning, the former administrator of the coalition provisional authority Paul Bremer wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post that defended the war. The column was titled, “."
- Evangelical Christian leader Bill Keller said on his television program that a vote for . "If you vote for Mitt Romney, you are voting for Satan," said Keller.

I respect McCain for his service to this country, but lets face it...he's a bit on the "nutty" side.

Thanks for posting the link to Paul Bremmer's column. However, you incorrectly listed that it "defends the war". After reading the article, it only discusses and defends the decision to "de-Bathify" and disband the previous Iraqi military.

RJ, I should have said that his column defended the "war policy," which included the de-Bathification, which as you know did not work out so well.
