Iraq Foreign Minister says US occupation hurting Iraq

Picphoto050507iraq At this weekend's regional summit in Egypt, Iraqi Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that the U.S. presence in Iraq is only fueling the sectarian civil war:

"The continuation of, and increase in, terroristacts in Iraq originates from the flawed approaches adopted by theforeign troops," he said.

"The United States must accept the responsibilitiesarising from the occupation of Iraq, and should not finger point or putthe blame on others."

Maybe Tommy Thompson's call for Iraqis to vote on whether the U.S. should stay was the most original idea to come out of Thursday's Republican presidential debate.
