Strange coincidence behind Cheney's destruction of records
Vice President Dick Cheney asked the Secret Service last September to of which political figures visited his residence. Cheney's lawyers cited the as an excuse.
This is all part of a involving an advocacy group that says Cheney must turn over his logs because they are subject to the Freedom of Information Act:
The Justice Department filed the letter Friday in a lawsuit by aprivate group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, seeking the identities of conservative religious leaders who visitedCheney at his official residence.
The ironic part about all this is the fact that an unidentified member of the Senate has placed a on a bipartisan bill specifically designed to strengthen the Freedom of Information Act. Since Dick Cheney is the president of the Senate in addition to being Vice President, is it possible that he is the one secretly placing the hold on the bill? That would be something!
Addington and Cheney like to give the vice president powers which he clearly does not have.
Nothing in the constitution makes Cheney or any other vice president a member of the Senate; he serves a purpose in the senate only when there is a tie on legislation and he votes to break the tie.
Giving the vice president a position in the senate would obviate the provision for two senators from each state and would make it impossible to negotiate and legislate in earnest.
This whole act they are playing out is designed to weaken our constitutional form of government and to wear down any opposition by opening numerous fronts on which to fight the battle.

I can almost feel myself ducking the rotten tomatoes as I post this:
~ But, how is it anybody's business who visits the Vice President at his home?
"Official residence", yes, I know; but it's the "home" - the private residence -of the Vice President while he/she serves. There's no other choice.
This feels an awful lot like McCartheyism to me.
The only material product from a list of guests is going to be a list of suppositions and innuendo.
And I probably would have told you yesterday, that there was no possible way that I could find to defend Dick Cheney. Ain't life a hoot?!
But it's not Cheney, friends. It's OUR freedoms.

Hey, I came across your site as I was researching information about the Cheney record’s situation. This is a great interactive opportunity and we hope you’ll take a moment to send in a short 30-45 second video
Executive Privilege
Do you think it's fair for the White House to refuse to hand over Vice President Dick Cheney's records to Congress? Is the President over-extending the use of Executive Privilege? Tell us what you think!
