A surge in BS

September is when Congress will get briefed by General Patraeus, and when Republicans are expected to split from Bush on Iraq in fear of losing their legislative seats in 2008.

Well guess what?  Arianna Huffington just completed her time travel experiment -- so instead of going into hibernation until then, she can already tell you what will happen in September:

Well, I've just returned from September and I can tell you two things:

1) I've seen the future and it doesn't work.

2) The administration will lie and claim that it does.

How did I accomplish this time-traveling feat? Very simple - I justwatched ''Meet the Press,'' and there was Ryan Crocker, U.S. ambassadorto Iraq, who together with Gen. David Petraeus will testify toCongress. He demonstrated that along with the surge in troops, there'salso been a surge in BS.

Crocker served up his crock in a bizarre, robotic manner that made himlook like he had been put together by Disney Imagineers - notsurprising since the administration is running out of actual humanbeings willing to defend the war. So instead they rolled out theCrockerbot2000.

This weekend's show was required viewing for anyone who cares aboutending this war, because it's clear that Crocker's talking points are apreview of the spin the administration will use come September. Theywere trial balloons, and Democrats should start shooting them down now.

The White House can spin it any way they want.  The situation is not getting better, and it won't as long as there is an American occupying presence in Iraq.  Each day brings more bad news -- including today:

• A series of rockets hit the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad this morning.
• In the northern Iraqi town of Sulaiman Pek, a suicide bomber drove his truck into the municipal headquarters, killing at least 13 people on Thursday.
• Two more US soldiers were killed after a roadside bomb exploded  southwest of Baghdad, the military announced Thursday.
