As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

  • Dick Cheney is destroying evidence of Secret Service logs, and keeps documents in man-sized safes -- reports the Washington Post.  (More on this today.)
  • Despite Dick Cheney ignoring an Executive order that forbids him from disclosing national security information, the White House doesn't think much of it.  "I think this is a little bit of a non-issue," a White House spokesperson said on Friday.
  • Senator Obama (D-IL) is unveiling the most sweeping ethics reform bill in U.S. history.  Among its many provisions, the bill would end all no-bid contracts, and ban all gifts, including meals.
  • The U.S. Supreme Court has eight cases before them.
  • Iran is in the middle of its major crackdown on dissent.
  • President Bush is scheduled to visit Japan in September to attend a summit with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
  • There are more lobbyists on John McCain's staff than any other '08 candidate.
  • The Des Moines Register reports that Iowa will likely move up its caucuses.  The Iowa Caucus could happen in the third week of December.  That's right -- the first 2008 contest would take place in 2007.
  • Barack Obama told a church convention on Saturday that some in politics have hijacked faith and used it as means to obtain power.  "Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bringus together and faith started being used to drive us apart.  Faith got hijacked, partly because of the so-called leaders of theChristian Right, all too eager to exploit what divides us," theIllinois senator said.

If we left anything out, feel free to add any stories in the commentbox.
