As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

• Newsweek Poll: 41% of Americans still believe Saddam Hussein had a role in the 9/11 attacks.
• Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) repeated his pledge to make Cheney choose whether he is truly a member of the Executive Branch.  If not, Emanuel wants to defund Cheney's Executive office.
• Dick Cheney wants to abolish the Security Oversight Office, an Executive Branch office that oversees the handling of classified information.
• Rupert Murdoch, owner of News Corp, is now very close to a deal that would allow him to purchase the Wall Street Journal.
• Here is a look at the numerous heated debates that erupted over the issue of immigration.  The one between Pat Buchanan and a Democratic congressman was the most fiery.
• Under Bush, more Americans have embraced secularism.  (So much for the "third awakening.")
• Elizabeth Edwards now says she supports gay marriage.
• During a campaign stop in San Antonio on Sunday, Barack Obama said that one of the first things he would do in his administration would be to close Guantanamo Bay.  "We're going to lead by example — by not just word but by deed," Obama added.
