Blue Radar

As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

  • Newsweek reports that there have been two major security breaches at the infamous Los Alamos nuclear facility.
  • Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN), a usually staunch defender of Bush's Iraq war policy, now says that the current strategy is not working, and that US soldiers need to be redeployed.
  • Former Senator Phil Graham (R-TX) says Cheney once told him that George W. Bush was a "big government conservative."  (Looks like Cheney not only runs the show, but he talks bad about the President behind his back.)
  • Just one day after the President called on Congress to renew the No Child Left Behind bill, a number of ex-aides from his first term now oppose it.
  • GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said he expects a drop in fundraising.  This comes just before all '08 candidates are supposed to release their second quarter money totals.
  • The ex-wife and former girlfriends of Fred Thompson are endorsing him.  "I think he has a great chance of capturing the women's vote," said country music singer Lorrie Morgan, a former girlfriend.
  • Today, John McCain will hold a $1,000 per person fundraiser with Paul Galanti, who was among the Swift Boat veterans that attacked John Kerry's war record.
  • Bill Richardson is surging in Iowa, according to an internal poll conducted by the Richardson team: Edwards - 31%, Clinton - 23%, Richardson - 18%, Obama - 16%.
  • National Democrats (Cook): Clinton - 32%, Obama - 22%, Edwards - 11%.
  • Nevada Democrats (Mason-Dixon): Clinton - 39%, Obama - 17%, Edwards - 12%, Richardson - 7%.

If we left anything out, feel free to add any stories in the commentbox.

How about some quality control...
1) breaches not preaches
2) Dick Lugar is a Republican.

Thanks for the corrections.
