Blue Radar

As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

  • Scooter Libby's lawyers are asking the judge to give him probation or community service instead of jail time.
  • Valerie Plame is suing the CIA for blocking the publication of her memoir.
  • The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Bush's friends in Texas are starting to worry about the President: "But by all reports, President Bush is more convinced than ever of his righteousness.  Friends of his from Texas were shocked recently to find him nearlywild-eyed, thumping himself on the chest three times while he repeated 'I am the president!' He also made it clear he was setting Iraq up sohis successor could not get out of 'our country's destiny.'"  (This is the kind of thing that gives you goosebumps.)
  • The Republican National Committee has fired all 65 of its phone solicitors.  The RNC has faced a 40% drop-off in donations partly due to Bush's stance on immigration.
  • For John F. Kennedy, it was sailing.  For Bill Clinton, it was golf.  For John Kerry, it was windsurfing.  For Barack Obama, it is basketball.  According to the NYT, he is quite the player: "Barack Obama is a wily player of pickup basketball, the version of thegame with unspoken rules, no referee and lots of elbows. He has beenplaying since adolescence, on cracked-asphalt playgrounds and atexclusive health clubs, developing a quick offensive style, aleft-handed jump shot and relationships that have extended into thepolitical arena."
  • Kos came up with a funny campaign slogan for Fred Thompson: "As Seen on TV."  (It makes perfect sense)
  • Pennsylvania Democrats: Clinton - 33%, Gore - 16%, Obama - 13%, Edwards - 11%.  (See what Gore does to Obama and Edwards' poll numbers.)
  • New York Democrats: Clinton - 42%, Gore - 13%, Obama - 13%, Edwards - 7%.
  • Wesley Clark is going out of his way to remind the media that he has not made up his mind about not running.  "I haven't said I won't run," Clark told Politico.com. "I think about running every single day."
  • Democratic candidate Chris Dodd is launching a major ad buy in Iowa and New Hampshire.  His ads will focus squarely on his green voting record.

If we left anything out, feel free to add any stories in the commentbox.
