Gore blasts 'supine' Congressional Republicans
Maybe it is true that Al Gore permanently retired from presidential politics -- but that is not stopping him from raising money for the party. Writing on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the former vice president sent out a to potential grassroots donors for '08 Senate candidates:
“Nowhere has Republican obstruction been more blatant and moredamaging than in the United States Senate, where they’ve exploited thenarrow 51-49 Democratic majority to try to block all manner oflegislation,†Gore wrote. “If we want progress on the issues we careabout, we absolutely must expand the Democratic Senate majority in2008.â€
He wrote that it was easy to blame Bush for what has happened overthe past six years and more since he became president, adding, “Butit’s important to remember that he couldn’t have done much of hisdamage without a supine Republican Congress.â€
“The very same Republican senators who have failed us so badly inthe past are poised to once again be in the majority if they pick uponly one seat in the next election,†Gore stated. “We can’t let thathappen.â€
It looks like Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and the DSCC are beginning to comprehend profound respect that most progressive small donors have for Al Gore.
