Iraq vets being punished for protesting

Picphoto060107troops Adam Kokesh risked his life in Falluja.  But back home, he does not have the same rights as non-military citizens:

A member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, Kokesh wore his camouflageuniform, with all insignia removed, on March 19 during a mock "combatpatrol" past the White House. Soon after his picture was in The Washington Post,Marine Maj. John Whyte e-mailed him that he may have violatedregulations that forbid wearing all or part of a uniform "while engagedin political demonstrations or activities."

Kokesh, 25, e-mailed back, addressing the officer with a profanity.

Monday, Kokesh faces an administrative dischargehearing that accuses him of violating the Uniform Code of MilitaryJustice and Pentagon policy on the wearing of uniforms and being"disrespectful" to a superior. A military board could convert hishonorable discharge into an "other than honorable" one, which couldreduce his veterans benefits.

Yeah, this kind of thing is going to make young people want to enlist!
