The Administration's latest spin on the surge
Iraqis have been displaced. 3,497 American soldiers have been . Coalition forces only control one third of all Baghdad neighborhoods. Military analyst after military analyst says the .
But according to General David Patraeus, the did not even begin yet:
We haven’t started the surge — the full surge — yet. So let me have a few months.
Nearly hours after Patraeus said this, House Democrats announced that they would follow their Senate colleagues and vote for the President's funding bill without a timetable. House Minority leader John Boehner (R-OH) was :
"Democrats have finally conceded defeat intheir effort to include mandatory surrender dates in a funding bill forthe troops, so forward progress has been made for the first time inthis four-month process."
Is it just me, or is this utterly humiliating? Develop some guts and stand on principle.
This is more than humiliating.
This is the WAKE UP CALL, and we, all people, but espcially those of us who can communicate, and join one another through the web, on these issues, had better TAKE THE CALL. And better take it now...
There are no "Democrats", no "Republicans", no representatives, no one is home looking out for the welfare of the country or its people. NO ONE. We are the sheep on the way to slaughter, and we'd better wake up.
Here, is surely the place to recall the words of Bobby Kennedy, as he spoke just shortly before they killed him:
A revolution is coming--a revolution which will be
peaceful if we are wise enough; compassionate if we
care enough; successful if we are fortunate enough--
But a revolution which is coming whether we will it
or not. We can affect its character; we cannot alter
its inevitability.
Robert F. Kennedy, US Senate, 5-9-1966
(forty one years ago this month)
This was not and is not a message to Congress, it is a message to us!

How much craven can it get: the Dems surrender to the (Repub-)framed "surrender dates." *sighs*
