Introducing... Me

It is my profound pleasure to introduce the newest member to The Blue State blogging team; me! Just to give a quick background on who I am and what I do; my name is Justin and I'm a 26 year old technical writer from New Jersey. I earned my BS in International Business Studies  and BA in German from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2002, and during my tenure, had the exciting opportunity to travel abroad to Austria to spend a semester outside of the US to work and study. Why is this important? Because it gave me the opportunity to view policy and politics in the US from an outsiders perspective. How is that relevant to my input to the Blue State? Because after returning to the states to finish up my degree, I made a decision to leave, indefinitely.

So here I am, now living in Sweden, a socialist democracy (yes there is such a thing!) As Todd mentioned to me when I came on board, I technically qualify as the first foreign correspondent for the Blue State, and I hope not to disappoint. If you have any questions for me, feel free to leave a comment.

Once again, welcome aboard me!

Welcome aboard sir from the Republic of the United States of America:)
I was very happy at being introduced to The Blue State from the folks at Crooks and Liars a while ago. It bears repeating that I have found this particular site to be well balanced, informative and fair with great insight by the big Chief:)
Welcome aboard Justin, I know you will enjoy yourself:)
Michael

Welcome aboard from abroad.

Tony

Great news! Happy news. Looking forward to your perspective.

Having slept on your introduction, and my initial response, I wanted to come back this morning and enthusiastically encourage you to share with us what it is like to live where the systems of governing are not the same as they are in the U.S.

In the rhetoric of daily life here, there are always blanket, speculative (and more frequently derogatory) tid bits dropped on the subject of doing things any differently :
"Well, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else"; "THEIR health system doesn't allow this or that"; "yes, but you pay such high taxes"...all of that. But few of us really know, I think, what the living of it is like. I'd love to hear from you on everything you can think of, (phone systems to Justice systems, and common interactions) that would broaden my knowledge about how other ways work.

Happy you're there!
