Rasmussen: 19% consider troop surge a success
Bush appeared energetic, yet forcefully repetitive in today's press conference. As someone that doesn't just write a blog but reads others as well, I noticed a lot of dead air responses today on conservative blogs. So many Americans, including those in his own base, tuned him out a long time ago.
Regardless of what he tried to convey today about his troop surge, the vast majority of are not buying into the empty hype about progress:
Just 19% of American voters believe that the U.S. troop surge in Iraqwas a success. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that43% of voters consider the surge a failure. Twenty-four percent (24%)say it’s too soon to tell while 15% are not sure.
Twenty-six percent (26%) of men say the surge has been a success.Only 13% of women share that view. Forty-two percent (42%) of men saythe surge failed and 44% of women agree.
Not only do Bush's conclusions not fall in line with the views of the American public, but the new widens the trust gap even more:
The report describes as "unsatisfactory" movement towardsachieving the central political objectives of planning newelections, introducing legislation to fairly distribute oilrevenue, and reversing "de-Baathification" laws that limit Sunniparticipation in government.
Mr Bush responded: "Those who believe that the battle in Iraq islost will likely point to the unsatisfactory performance on some ofthe political benchmarks.
Well at least Bush is right about one thing.

You go, Bush! dont listen to those "politicians" and their "political" benchmarks. Don't let the politicians who politicize for a living, politicize your victory-to-be in Iraq as a temporary defeat.
Onward Christian soldiers!
