Blue Nightowl Clips
As we post in the middle of each night, here are some of the popular political clips making their rounds on the blogs tonight:
- "I support the troops" -- from a Canadian comedy show. Well done!
- Should we bring back the draft? From Hardball.
- Dan Rather discusses voting machine failures. Touch screens that don't worry. Improper maintenance. Many of the machines were outsourced. No one knows who makes the machines.
- TPM recaps the celebration in Ames. This is good grassroots reporting.
- Red State Update comments on Karl Rove's White House departure. Funny stuff!
More clips later today and tomorrow.
Canadian Support our troops Parody
Yep not a discussion about war can start without adding this platitude. Funny enough those who are saying it with the most fervor are normally the people who's actions and philosophy undercut the troops.
Draft Debate
I saw this on TV as it happened, I think John Bruhns(the anti draft speaker) was correct but wasn't as direct as he could have been. Americans should not be drafted because bush started a war over oil resources and handled it extremely badly. Giving in to Mr. Lute's call for a draft sounds too much like rewarding bad behavior.

The Draft debate sounded like it was right out of bizarro world to me.
The pro draft arguement was that with a draft, upper class families and a larger amount of middle class families will get drafted and be forced to fight.....and as a result people will care about the war and give it even more support?
If I was on such a debate I would say I'm morally against the draft, but on a practical basis, if the draft was enacted, the war would be over the next day. Cause when the people who don't know anyone in the army suddenly find family getting drafted, people start thinking you should give peace a chance.
