Huffington Post and Keith Olberman material on the Utah mine accident - which has now become accidentS, is worthy of attention. There's undoubtedly more being done, elsewhere.
Richard Stickler, the head of Federal Mine Safety, is another Bush RECESS APPOINTMENT.
Congress would not have approved him, and sent his name back a number of times.
Based on his poor record as a mining executive, the AFLCIO and the Miner's Union opposed his nomination, as well as numbers of Republicans.
Until 2006 there had been an 80 year decline in mining deaths.
It was Richard Stickler who declined to endorse new mine safety rules after the Sago mine accident.
This is a prime example of the present "Administration's" consistant selection of "wolves to guard the sheep", and circumnavigation of the "balance of power" process.
