Blue Radar

As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:

  • The CIA inspector general conducted an audit of the agency's response to intelligence in the run-up to the 9/11 attacks.  The report faults then-CIA Director George Tenet.  "The agency and its officers did not discharge their responsibilities in a satisfactory manner," the report said.
  • In a speech later this morning at the VFW Convention, President Bush will cite Vietnam as an example of why we shouldn't leave Iraq.
  • Later on Tuesday, President Bush met with state and local government officials in Minnesota.  He was briefed on the ongoing recovery effort following the collapse of the bridge last month.
  • Former Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis is now working with the DNC on organizing precincts in all 50 states in preparation for the start of the 2008 election cycle.
  • Following yesterday's Iowa poll numbers in the Blue Radar, a few new numbers are out which pertain to that same Iowa poll: "Among the very liberal, Edwards is the favorite, winning 29% toObama's 25% and Clinton's 18%. But among mainstream Democrats, Clintonis the far and away leader with 39% support, compared to 22% forEdwards and 20% for Obama."
  • The DNC may sanction Florida for moving its primary up to January 29th.  It could cost them delegates.
  • Arizona is moving its primary up by three weeks to February 5th.
  • On Wednesday night, Barack Obama will be Jon Stewart's guest on the Daily Show.
  • Fred Thompson is going after Rudolph Giuliani on the issue of gun laws in New York City: "Now, the same activist federal judge from Brooklyn who provided MayorGiuliani’s administration with the legal ruling it sought to sue gunmakers, has done it again. Last week, he created a bizarrejustification to allow New York City to sue out-of-state gun storesthat sold guns that somehow ended up in criminal hands in the BigApple."

If we left something out, it's because we either wrote about ityesterday or are scheduled to do so in an individual post later today. Otherwise, feel free to add any stories in the commentbox.
