Blue Radar
As I post each morning, here are some of the political stories thatmight not be worthy of their own posts, but are nonetheless newsworthy:
- Attorney General by current Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff.
- will report in its September 3rd edition that US forces nearly caught Osama bin Laden in 2004.
- More than since the surge began.
- Fox News is going all-out to win the ratings war during the two-year anniversary of Katrina. They are to the Gulf Coast to report.
- During President Bush's , he thanked Iraqis for their cooperation during the war. "Here at home, it can be easy to overlook the bravery shown by Iraqitroops and Iraqi civilians who are in the fight for freedom," Bush said. "But our troopson the ground see it every day." (What a disconnected comment. He has no idea what Iraqis are going through, nor anyone else that is currently in Iraq.)
- Florida Democrats could unless they move their primary back at least one week from the January 29th date.
- If Iowa moves up the date for their presidential caucus to December, it will open a that would allow people to donate the maximum for the second time.
- In a speech this weekend, Rudolph Giuliani outlined his . He would make Bush's tax cuts permanent and eliminate the estate tax.
- This weekend, Barack Obama named a number of Republicans he under his next administration. Those Senate Republicans include Richard Lugar (R-IN), John Warner (R-VA) and Tom Coburn (R-OK).
If we left something out, it's because we either wrote about ityesterday or are scheduled to do so in an individual post later today. Otherwise, feel free to add any stories in the commentbox.
Michael Chertoff, Attorney General. Now there's a nice touch. The man who replaced "Brownie", when the Federal government's response to the disaster in New Orleans after Katrina displayed such truly astonishing & notable incompetence, that they had to bring in a guy who was at least an experienced liar, and knew how to appear grim and official while sweeping the realities of neglect and indifference under the table.
Apparently a man for all fiascos.
When are we going to stop letting Iraq divert our attention from the real issues that threaten us all: global warming aka new energy sources, and the complete disassembly of this country's capacity to take care of the many, while the few grow richer (in other words - to take care of itself?)

Yeah, I could not believe what I saw when I read that about Chertoff. I was like, "Am I REALLY reading this clearly?" Chertoff is going to get hammered during the confirmation hearings, that's for sure! Why does Bush have to keep recycling cabinet members who have already failed? Why can't he bring in fresh faces?

"Why can't he bring in fresh faces?"
Well, though I'd like to believe it, I doubt that it's because they're running out of blood sucking thieves & liars.
I'll guess: because he's paranoid?
But in the end, it's to our advantage, or one would hope so, to see the old familiar faces ~ we could "just say no", if anyone's up to that.
On the other hand, what's been new or news about this administration's conduct, pretty much since we saw that buffooon duck and run on 9/11 (or no, I take that back, for some of us, when we watched the 2000 election get stolen)?
Day after day it's the same, and the same, and the same again.
And maybe it's working. We're not talking about change, and possibilities, we're turning over the same old garbage.
