A real Iraq report worth paying attention to

Picphoto081707cboNow that we learned the White House will write Petraeus' September report for him, hopefully policy observers will turn their undivided attention to a more objective Iraq report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.  This one will come out before Labor Day:

When Congress returns in September, both chambers will have just twoweeks before the anxiously awaited report from Gen. David Petraeus onoperations in Iraq puts the war front and center on its agenda.

Thatwill be preceded by a Government Accountability Office report due outshortly before the Labor Day weekend and will be followed by debate inthe Senate on its defense authorization bill.

The CBO had been planning to give this report for quite some time, but it has been over-shadowed by the anticipation for Petraeus' report.  Let's hope this one gets the attention it deserves.

Here is a list of all the other CBO reports on Iraq since the war began.
