(Videos) The interesting world of Larry Craig
As I eluded to earlier this evening, tonight we celebrate the fabulous world of Senator Larry Craig (R-ID). Earlier this month, Craig to engaging in lewd acts inside a men's restroom in Minnesota.
So who is Larry Craig? You will learn quite a bit by watching the videos below. Let's watch them in historical order:
1) According to this 1982 ABC News video, Craig allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with Congressional pages.
2) Skip ahead to 1999. Craig called Clinton a "naughty boy" for having an affair with Monica Lewinsky. Hypocritical?
3) In 2006, Barney Frank and Bill Maher discussed Larry Craig and the hypocrisy about gay Republicans.
4) Now to this year. Here is Senator Craig endorsing Mitt Romney. At the end of the video, Craig talks about Romney's strong "family values."
5) And earlier this Tuesday, Craig addressed the media and defended his actions in the bathroom.
Does anyone here think that what he did was illegal? An undercover cop says he tapped on a bathroom stall door in a way that suggests he was trying to pick up another man? First of all, that screams of a frame up, and more importantly, why would that action be illegal?
Progessives would be smart to stay out of this 'purging of the Republican ranks' and avoid the issue altogether. It's a trap.
Don't allow Republicans to use these examples of disgusting sexual malfeasance to describe homosexuality, or to allow the general public to think that progressive's are light on prositution, homosexual prostiution, child predation, and sexual abuse, especially when prominent Republicans are the ones being implicated in the scandals that are portraying homosexuality as such.
There's a difference between Foley, the priest scandal, or Monicagate, and this story. There's no wrongdoing involved. Be on the right side of the issue, and don't let the weapons of mass distraction do their damage.
Be Progressive.

Brien I respectfully think you're missing the point. Republicans like to say there is something wrong with being gay so when Craig gets caught trying to have sex in a public place it shows that he is a hypocrite on top of breaking the law (The reports have it that he "tapped" first and the cop tapped back to confirm then busted Craig when he confirmed.)
I really haven't seen a progressive suggest that being gay was the problem but rather being gay, staunchly republican, and so self hating that one would stoop to seeking sex in a public restroom. If republicans weren't so self righteous about pleasure and closed minded about sexual orientation maybe Craig could have met someone in a more dignified manner. Craig's crime was not being gay it was trying to have sex in a public place. His own party will pass judgment for his being gay while progressives will point out the hypocrisy.
