Edwards gets ad time after Bush's speech
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has bought two full minutes of ad time on MSNBC following President Bush's 9 PM ET speech tonight. He will rebut President Bush's policy of keeping at least 130,000 troops in Iraq until the end of his presidency.
The Edwards Campaign is intending to make their boss look very :
"Unfortunately, the president is pressing on with the only strategyhe's ever had — more time, more troops, and more war," Edwards says inthe ad, according to excerpts provided by his campaign.
The ad was taped at Edwards' home in Chapel Hill ,N.C., in the style of an Oval Office address, with him sitting at adesk and speaking straight to the camera, with American flag in thebackground.
Edwards will add that Congress ultimately has the power to end the war:
"Tell Congress you know the truth," Edwards says. "They have the powerto end this war and you expect them to use it. When the president asksfor more money and more time, Congress needs to tell him he only getsone choice — a firm timeline for withdrawal."
I will post the video as soon as it is released.
