Republican Congress Flexes Some Muscle
On Thursday, the deceptively Democratic Senate allowed a vote on and then passed a Republican sponsored resolution to denounce a large advertisement paid for by MoveOn.org which criticized General David Petraeus. The measure passed with 72 yay votes.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said the amendment "gives our colleagues a chance to distance themselves from these despicable tactics, distance themselves from the notion that some group literally has them on a leash, like a puppet on a string."
McConnell is one of about 45 United States Senators who has rejected many forms of legislation in the past nine months that would have distanced himself from the Bush Administration sponsored Iraq War. Clearly, infinite war with no goals is less offensive than an advertisement.
Then, to top it off, the same Senate rejected a measure sponsored by Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to condemn inaccurate personal attacks against two actual war heros: former Georgia Senator Max Cleland and former Presidential candidate John Kerry.
Way to show 'em who's boss, Democrats! I'm so glad we have two parties.
I see that Hillary, Kerry, and Dodd all voted "no" on the resolution, because they are beholden to the kook Moveon.org money.
Then Obama showed some real balls and didn't vote.
Nice to know your party leaders are hamstrung by the radical progressive fringe left.
....follow the money.

First, Hillary Clinton will never be part of MY party.
Second, I'm impressed that Barack Obama didnt vote. It's a waste of time to vote on such things. There is a real war going on.
Finally, there is nothing fringe left about being pissed off at those managing this war. About 70% of the planet is on that fringe these days.
One day you'll wake up and realize the fringe is you. Until then...

If "vengence" WERE "the Lord's", as we on this website have so recently been warned, as we were theatened with the fast lane to our come-uppence, the words "disgusting", and "despicable" would burn the lips right off the faces of George Bush and Mitch McConnell.
This vote shows, with unequivical clarity, the "fact" of what it is the Republican "Party" has come to stand for.
No amount of pandering, obfuscating, and mud slinging will change that snapshot.
You can wrap a shill in a uniform just the way you can wrap a pig in a flag; it's still a pig, and the flag still stands for something these guys have long since forgotten.
And as for you George, you're a stand up peach!

72% of the Senate Voted yes on it..last I checked, that means there were plenty of Senate Dems that voted for this bill that "shows what the Rep. Party stands for,"
By the way, that vote shows we stand by our military and Generals who were slandered by Moveon.
George, the fringe is YOU and your ilk baby.
That is why the public polls taken after the treatment of Gen. Petreaus showed well over 60% of people believing him and a large percentage condemning the way the Dems handled him during questioning.
Just calling that ad like I see it, an attack before the guy even gave his testimony.
I should know better than to think George could be objective.

Now I see this :"shows what the Rep. Party stands for," in quotes(as presented by our illustrious fact "manufacturer") but since it is NOT a direct quote, THAT would be misleading... or can I say, just flat out not the way the sentence was written.
After all the name calling and generalizations about the ideology and capacities for objectivity of Democrats, I feel free to draw the analogy between that free-lance set of quotation marks, and the flowery rhetoric about "we stand by our military" as compared to the actual FACTS of the stand that has been taken to care for the men and women we're sending into this quagmire war. ZERO
And any Democrat I know would have been part of that 60% who were "condemning the way the Dems handled him during questioning" - if that's the way the question was asked. You bet I didn't like the way he was handled. They gave him a walk in the park.

Granny,
You got that right. The dems have undeniably allowed this war to run its course, most likely in the interest of picking up another 5 Senate seats in 2008.
Ted K - Do you feel safe yet? This war is all to make people like you feel safe, isnt it? Are you comfortable?

oh granny, so angry.
I wish they would have tried to fry the man during questioning to, and even worsened the perception of Dems.
So we agree on that.
I also like how you refer to me backing troops as "flowery rhetoric.''
It amazes me that your party is committed to defeat in Iraq. The worst thing for you would be progress and victory..what a horrible thing for those Iraqi people.
A General comes in, sites progress from the new surge and you scream he is a liar and we need to just pack it in.
George we haven't been attacked since 911. I am not running around going "Oh no, what is gonna happen, I hope they are not listening to my phone calls!"
(They aren't, because I am not calling terrorists in the Mid East.)
We are not going to be completely safe from this terrorist cancer- Just ask Israel about these extreme Muslims.
Israel just destroyed warheads coming from Iran to Syria and you libs don't think this global war on terrorism is anything to worry about.
How can you be comfortable?
Worrying more about global warming than irrational terrorists?
