A right-wing poll if you've ever seen one

Picphoto100507foxnews You can always count on FOX News Opinion Dynamics to make a point out of every single poll they release.  Look at their latest one.  What kind of a question is this?

Do you personally think the world would be better off if the United States
loses the war in Iraq?

ALL: Yes - 11%, No - 73%
DEMOCRATS: Yes - 19%, No - 62%
REPUBLICANS: Yes - 7%, No - 76%

Of all three political affiliations, you can bet which one FOX News used in its headline about the new poll.  Here was the Fox headline:

FOX News Poll: Nearly 1 in 5 Democrats Say World Will Be Better Off if U.S. Loses War

The odds are that O'Reilly and Hannity will have fun with that.  But you haven't seen anything yet.  The questions in the poll got even crazier:

Have you ever said a prayer for President Bush?

Have you ever said a prayer for soldiers serving in Iraq?

Have you ever prayed for the war in Iraq to end?

How often do you pray?  SCALE: 1. Every day 2. Several times a week 3. Several times a month  4. About once a month 5. A few times a year 6. Never 7. (Don???‚¬?„?t know/refused)

Can this so-called poll from this alleged 'news channel' get any more personal?  Maybe.  I came up with six more questions FOX News might want to consider in their next poll:

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the most), how uncomfortable do you feel around gay people?
  2. How many guns do you own?  Five?  Four?  Three?  Two?  One?  Or are you a wimp?
  3. Do you use an assault riffle while hunting?  Or were you already taught how to aim?
  4. Who is hurting America more: Michael Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Hillary Clinton or the Dixie Chicks?
  5. Who is more fair and balanced: Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Neil Cavuto, John Gibson, Brit Hume, or All of the Above
  6. George W. Bush is an amazing ______ 1) Leader 2) Conquerer 3) Philosophizer 4) Strateger 5) Efficient Spender-er

I'm still working on it!  I'd love your ideas, if you have any.

I watched a segment on a news channel some time ago where they interviewed a president of a polling company(not sure the network or the guy)

He explained how the make the questions suit the organization hiring them. An example he gave was regarding illegal immigrants and medical treatment.

-Do you think Americans should pay for illegal immigrants health care?

-Do you think illegal immigrant children should be denied medical care in the emergency room?

Depending on how they want the poll to go i.e.

-"80% of Americans do not feel they should pay for illegal immigrants medical bills"

-"80% of Americans think we should pay for illegal immigrants medical bills"

The questions aren't 100% accurate from what I saw (I don't recall exactly), but you get the idea how they manipulate the polls.

Which most describes true conservative ideals;

1)
Katrina victims need to pull themselves up by their Boot straps, boot straps they do not have and cost money they do not have to purchase.

2)
With "mission accomplished" in Iraq. The evil dictaor and his cohorts removed from power. We must stay in Iraq for the Iraqi people, as long as it takes to help a democracy blossom.

3)
If you are drowning and can't swim. It is a very weak and socialistic action to call out for help and you should not expect someone nearby (that has hundreds of life preservers) for rent or sale only. To toss you a life preserver when money can be made with them else where. You should be able to swim, bottom line.

When it has come to pro torture. The republicans like to cite the TV Series "24 hours". With the hero Jack, threatening and torturing the villian to get that critical information to stop the ticking time bomb from reeking its devestation in the nail biting nick of time. "PHeew".!

This is proof that it works and justifies torture's use in real life situations.

So, Why is it they ignore the "Rambo" movies? When Rambo was captured and tortured, he never gave up the critical information to his enemy.

Was Rambo that tough because he was American? Because he had special training to endure torture? He had God? Was Rambo was a masochist and enjoyed it?

Then there was agent 86 Maxwell Smart. He also was able to withstand torture that was appied to him when he got captured by the evil enemy KAOS.

So the conservative perspctive is that only our enemy are vulnerable to tortue and Americans aren't ?
That our enemy are not idealistic, hard core enough nor trained for the expected torture they face. Unlike the "Good Guys".

For a political party that bashes Hollywood, they sure promote Hollywood with "24 hours".

Which reminds me, GOP's denegration of Hollywood Liberals is where their idol Reagan originated from. But if Hollywood is so liberally morally corrupt? Why do they give a great big pass to Las Vegas ? "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Is it mob ties and hookers with legal prostitution OK, even the Christian Right gives Vegas a pass. Why is that?

leads to a poll question:

As a republican, which best describes your view?
1)
Hollywood is a liberally moral and corrupted bankrupt Democrat failed experiment that God should smite.

2)
Las Vegas as with the state of Nevada being mostly republican have better family values than the Hollywood crowd. Nevada with its profitable legalized prostitution, drinking, gambling, and hard mob ties are superior values in the free market. You never see any Christian right condemning Vegas. Heck, they have conventions in vegas for all the exiting entertainment to enjoy while crusading harshness for Hollywood.
