Based on how difficult of an interviewer Tim Russert can be, this might be a bad idea for Obama. I will be surprised if he gets the better of Russert.
Thanks for the info. You might like my looking at Ron Paul's observations of the field.

He's not suppposed to be there to "get the better of" the interviewer, unless the interviewer is trying to "get" him...
If he can't answer straight questions this is when we need to know it.

Actually, Russert usually tries to "get" the person he is interviewing. That is his style. That's why Hillary Clinton chose to give her Meet the Press interview via satellite, so that the one-second delay would shy Russert away from interrupting her as much.

I think ... to get got you gotta be trying to "get over", or around. That's why Hillary Clinton chose satellite. Russert shouldn't have agreed to it ~
The point is taken, nonetheless. Interviews have attained a certain combative aspect because all is not straightforward by a long shot.
If we're saying Russert is trying to find the truth, that's one thing. If we're saying he's trying to trip the candidate into "getting" things said that the press can then "interpret", misinterpret, or reinterpret, and run with, that is quite another thing.

is the 1 second delay even real? what is this - 1987? I think we have real time communications technology.
Obama was fine on MTP today. He just speaks very slowly at times and he makes you want to fall asleep. He's not a dynamic speaker as he's been cast. He's just a real person who seems very honest and speaks to the needs of a lot people who are not spoken for otherwise.
