One on One Debate

First thoughts are that John Edwards and a populist agenda were missing. That being said, it is a good night to be a Democrat regardless. We should all be proud about what a civil and real debate we got tonight. In a civil debate Obama really shined tonight, not that Clinton did horribly but it was in my opinion Obama's best debate. He was especially effective on immigration while she seemed to stumble a bit. She does seem to have him a bit on healthcare. . .not in reality but he has a very hard time articulating why his plan actually works and she does.

Yes I am an Obama voter 100% and have been since he declared his candidacy, but I think most people would agree that when the attacks stop and he has time to really respond to the questions as he does in one on one debates he is quite effective. Whomever we end up with in the general election, we are most definitely going to have the upper hand in the debates.

Barack Obama's Health Care is the Same Universal Health Care offered by Hillary and Edwards, but with one Major Difference: You Have the Option of Choice! Do you want to be forced to pay for medical insurance like you are mandated to pay your auto insurance now? Or would you rather have the option of CHOICE --to be able to decide whether or not you want to buy your medical coverage at this time? This way Barack Obama's plan does not put another mandated cost, like auto insurance, on the backs of the people, especially the young who already have college costs to contend with. However, the coverage is always there for you, if and when you need it.

I completely agree with you, my point is that he has a harder time articulating that in debates. His plan is more intricate and thoughtful so it takes a little more than thirty seconds to fully explain. The mandated cost is the easy way out in my opinion and doesn't take into account the unnecessary burden that you mention. Obama's plan is better, in my opinion, in part because it can't be explained fully in a one minute answer. This won't matter in a general election debate because he won't have to explain the difference.

After watching the entire debate including the analysis afterwards I would conclude that Obama did have the edge over Hillary. I am now looking for the substance. Where are the ingrediants to that fine Chocolate Cake you are asking us to Bake and Eat?

I think more substantive debates are coming, this was the most policy directed so far and the cadidates kind of pushed it that direction by refusing to acknowledge the perceived validity of petty questions. Such as, "were you naive?" The audience balked at the silly questions and so did the candidates. Just more proof that CNN isn't going to dictate policy or decide who wins this election. We are and we are going to make our decision, it seems right now anyway, based on policy.

Herb,
This site http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ has detailed descriptions of most relevant issues. How Obama sees the problem and what is plan is to solve it.

bacalove is right on the money with that comment about health care. Hillary's plan forces you to purchase private health insurance. Obama's plan gives you the option and focuses more on cost-cutting.

Though both are somewhat fair candidates ...IF YOU HAVENT BY NOW REALIZED WHAT HILLARY STANDS 4 THEN DO YOU HOMEWORK--ITS EASY THE PEOPLE....LOOK INTO HER PAST AND YOU'LL FIND IT EASY TO SEE THIS....LIKE I SAY THE APPLE DOESNT FALL TOO FAR FROM THE TREE ...AND BILL IS THE TREE...SET ASIDE THRIR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP DIFFICULTIES DURING HIS TERM...JUST POLITICAL...THE STATS SPEAK FOR THEM SELVES....
