Hillary is in trouble

Despite what any of the pundits said, last night was huge for the Obama Campaign.  He won more states and more delegates.  After raising $32 million in January alone, compared to Hillary's $13 million, Obama is in the drivers seat to blanket the airwaves with ads in the remaining states.  Hillary, on the other hand, is preparing to take out a loan from the bank in order to compete.

The following states are voting on Saturday:
- Washington (it's a caucus, and it's my home state!)
- Louisiana (huge edge to Obama there.)
- Nebraska (maybe the edge is Clinton's.)
- Virgin Islands

One on Sunday:
- Maine

On February 12th, a number of big ones:
- Washington D.C.
- Maryland
- Virginia

February 19th:
- Hawaii (Obama's birthplace.  That should be a landslide.)
- Wisconsin (Obama won the neighboring state of Minnesota.)

March 1st:
- American Samoa

The real "Super Tuesday" could come on March 4th, as the blue-collar states vote.  It will be Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont.  Ohio might be Hillary's last stand.

What a race!

What is the difference between having a primary and a caucus? Somewhat stupid question.

I wonder if Obama is getting use to kissing white ass. He'll have to do it a whole lot more if he is elected. Think about it. If he doesn't he'll be labeled the biggest racial bigot ever born. That's not prejudice that's just fact, Sorry.

Obama has been on the air in Nebraska for at least a week now and he'll be here in Omaha tomorrow. I think he'll probably end up with the edge here.

As for the difference between the contests, caucuses typically require a better organization and a more dedicated following--you commit an hour at least of your time rather than just stopping in and voting whenever. They may also deprive some people of the chance to vote for some reason (work, etc). Obama has shown a superior caucus organization thus far.

I don't want to jump the gun here, but I finally think Obama is gaining momentum. He is like the New York Giants--getting hot at just the right time of the season, coming in as a definite underdog, and rolling over his opponents.

But more exciting is how I think the next generation of this country is stepping up to the plate and becoming involved in the political process. Despite living under a moronic leader for the last 8 years, and feeling like everyday this country is going down the tube, this election truly gives me hope that a young, educated generation is emerging. And no matter if it ends up Hillary or Barack, this is progress for this country.

Wisconsin--is an open primary. Meaning that since McCain has it locked up, Republicans may decide to vote for the Democratic challenger they want--Clinton.
However, Republican primaries have been low in turnout, so they may just stop showing up alltogether.

Everything I've read about Neb points to an Obama win. I think Washington is the more difficult task by far.

Maine won't be easy either.

Virginia looms huge next week.

This is our chance for the kill. Let's earn it! Donate, Volunteer, Tell Everyone you know.

Good Giants comparison, Laura. It's all about being on fire when it's all on the line.

George, you're right, Washington is definitely the toughest for Obama on Saturday. I'm going to be doing my part to help make sure we carry this state. Most of Seattle, except for the part where I live, is solidly pro-Obama. lol Remember, we're coffee drinkers and college educated....so that's Obama.

What I'm very worried about is rural Washington. I'm talking about Snohomish County, just 20 minutes north of the city limits. I'm also talking about south of Tacoma, Washington. Also, Wenatchee and Yakima, which are located in central-eastern Washington, are Clinton territory. Spokane, Washington....which is in the far east, is very pro-Obama. It's a college town where Gonzaga University is located. I have relatives over there. Their friends are caucusing for Obama. Down in Pullman, Washington, south of Spokane, is where Washington State University is located. That is another Obama stronghold.

So what does all this mean? It means Washington will go to Obama unless rural western Washington (in the counties south and north of Seattle) are strongly Clinton. We need high turnout in college towns (Seattle, Bellingham, Pullman, and Spokane). But remember, it's a caucus....that favors Obama anyway.

As a life-long Washingtonian, when I watch the results come in county-by-county on Saturday, it will be easy to tell when we can call the race for Obama or Clinton.

Let's stay involved, everyone. Usually one out of every 400 viewers actually comment on this blog. So I know all of you are out there!!!!!! This is it, all you Washingtonians. I know many of you visit this site. Yes, that goes for you too, my cousins! Make phone calls to everyone in your neighborhood. Make sure they turn out!

Hey -- judging by the title of this blog, I think all the readers would really enjoy a new DVD coming out this month entitled "Blue State." Starring Breckin Meyer and Anna Paquin, the comedic film follows a 2004 Kerry campaigner and his relocation to Canada after a drunken bet he makes that he will leave the country if Dubya wins.

If you like what is going on in Iraq elect Obama. Then it will surely be in our own streets.

Obama has said he will pull all troops without regards to outcome. Well, if he does Al Quada will read this as a defeat on our part. Their numbers will grow, and then we can expect the same thing here that is happening over there. Roadside attacks, bombers, kidnappings, and murder of innocent people.

Wake up Obama supporters, because once he is elected there is no turning back.

That is a gross misinterpretation of what Obama said.

"John, what I have said, and I've said repeatedly, is I want to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in, but I want to make sure that we get all our combat troops out as quickly as we can safely. Now, the estimates are maybe that's two brigades per month. At that pace it would be some time in 2009 that we had our combat troops out, depending on whether Bush follows through on his commitment to draw down from the surge."

He followed this comment with another that showed that he was not ignoring the problems in the Middle East.

"We are seeing Al Qaida stronger now than at any time since 2001. That is a significant threat that has to be dealt with. Because we have been distracted, we have ended up seeing a more dangerous situation, and so we are not -- this is not just a matter of who is right and who is wrong about having gone to war or the surge. It's also, how do we deal with the future threats? And as long as we're bogged down in Iraq, we are not going to be able to deal with those future threats."

These are word for word from the debate transcript in South Carolina. . .it took me about 2 minutes to find. If you want to argue the merits of one point or another that's great and I would love to debate it with you. But if you are too lazy to provide evidence for your claims or to look up Obama's actual statements to see if you even have a leg to stand on in making outrageous and I daresay ridiculous statements then it is really debilitating to your argument.

Slade,

You are a jackass.

Truer words. . .never spoken

I'm proud of my donkey heritage

Just to report live from Nebraska.

From an ex Edwards supporter. Lost in undecision limbo between Clinton and Obama.

Obama came in to Omaha today (Thurs) for a campaign speech. This is the very first time a viable Democratic party presidential candidate showed up and actually campaigned in Nebraska since Bobby Kennedy.

This is what I found out from the Nebraska natives. I transfered here from Calif in '96. It has been Bush and Cheney's ATM for cash up until now. Which it is being challenge by Obama just by filling an entire stadium on a couple days notice.

Obama was very sincere, eloquent, personable, elevating, encouraging, challenging and exciting to hear in person.

Like hearing Crosby, stills and Nash live vs the studio buff stuff.

Sen. Ben Nelson who has already endorsed Obama was present and entroduced Obama.

Our Gov is Repub so our Omaha Dem mayor spoke and spoke to change in Omaha to
Obama-ha. I know, but it was funnier live.

While Clinton sent Chelsea to Lincoln Nebraska and Michelle Obama will be matching Chelsea in Lincoln. Obama is the only viable Dem candidate to actually come to Omaha (Nebraska in general) and ask personally for Nebraskan's vote since Bobby Kennedy. That is something and makes many here feel part of it. That there vote does count in a state that calls its college football team "Big Red". Like the state.

If I were a man of the religion, I would start by blessing Howard Dean for his 50 state strategy that has actually brought things like Campaigns and caucus's here. Let alone an actual Nebraska Democratic Party Web Site. Oh yeah, and the Nebraska Democratic Party to go along with that web site.

But alas, I will caucus Sat. for the first time ever and all I have is indecision over the two Dem candidates. Sat caucus will bring that to a decision. It is sort of nice to see the Democratically minded progressive type people in this state come out, feel good about there choices and its future, and bold enough to come out in such Bush supporting surroundings. Where the pal you work with in the rare union good job here talks of Democrats coming for their guns and forcing and forcing all the men into having abortions and while they are recuperating in the hospital incapacitated, the Dems will raise their taxes. Just how they are. The midwest mothers do a poor job at potty trainning and you can tell by all the urin on the floor in front of the urinal.

Yet Thursday change many things that the GOP has propagated for granted.
There is that inspiration Obama delivers. And he truely inspired. I did not know there were that many Dems, progressives, independents, liberals here until this Obama showing.

Does anyone think Obama can help deliver a Democratic party veto proof majority for Congress? And can anyone get Al Franken to run for congress in my district here in Omaha?

As of this AM Obama has said NO to a Clinton invitation to debate. He claims the debates would be held in Clinton strongholds. Well, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these places part of the United States? Or will Obama ignore them if he is elected president.

That's not very presidential to say Well, you just don't matter to the United States.

There have been 18 debates thus far. What is it that you still want to know?

By the way, a complete discussion of the issues can be found here: www.barackobama.com/issues
