Obama can benefit from Hillary outburst

I don't know the effect that Hillary Clinton's outburst yesterday will have on the polls.  But from reading a great deal of comments on Youtube, neutral political blogs and news sites, the former First Lady may have set her rival up to score a knockout blow during the MSNBC debate this week.  To many, Hillary came across as desperate, angry and unprofessional.  It was the closest thing to a Dean scream that one could get.  All Obama has to do is take the moral high ground this week and he will come across as more presidential.

Also, Obama could point out that he is more electable in key states, such as Iowa:

Iowa General Election

49% - John McCain
40% - Hillary Clinton

53% - Barack Obama
36% - John McCain

Come across as more electable, more presidential, and more of a change figure -- and the nomination is yours, Mr. Obama.

I've noticed the media's been taking a bit more of a Hillary-slant on this one. I think the media tries to drive all politics so that it is 50-50%. Like the media is a balancing mechanism for elections, to make them seem more interesting.

Anyway, I don't buy for a second that Hillary didn't know about these flyers up until a couple of days after the debate. The points were made months ago on Obama's fact-check website, which Hillary's campaign refreshes like every minute to make sure she has a counter point for every point he makes. So why wait until now? The only thing I can figure right now is that Hillary will have a chain reaction of such accusations between now and March 4. Still, that doesn't answer why she didn't go all out in previous primaries. I think the answer will be clear as March 4 approaches.

I once had a video game for Sega Genesis (long time ago), called NBA Showdown. My friends and I played it relentlessly. After 100s of games played we often noted what we called the "Showdown Gods". These gods would make it significantly easier to hit a 3 pointer when you were down than when you were winning.

So I now call the cable news stations, the Campaign Gods. Wouldn't ratings be wonderful if this continued for several months?

I think this will prove to show desperation on the part of the Clinton campaign. Obama can really benefit from this if he plays it right, which I think he will do. This might just be the final nail in the coffin for Hillary.

Ok this is a long post. I need to rant so here it goes!

I have been reading comments from all over the "internets" too. The vast majority of them do not favour Hillary. There are a few commenters who are on the same self-centered destructive path as she is, but largely people recognize that Hillary has shown her contempt for the process and for millions of Americans who just don't get why she should be crowned queen.

First she grand stands about facts that can be found in quotes of hers and in HER book, then she pulls this mockery. But lets be clear here she isn't mocking just Obama, she is mocking millions of Americans. The same Americans she will no doubt turn around and demand votes from in November if she manages to squeak out a primary win.

A little advice
To Hillary

Hillary get over yourself! This campaign is about peoples lives. You can't throw a tantrum when faced with facts, the facts will still be there and YOU will be the one looking like a fool in the end. We have had great presidents in the past and some not so great. You are no where near our final hope. So stop acting like a jackass out on the trail because people are deciding for themselves!

To Hillary supporters who condone this behaviour

Note:
I'm talking ONLY to those people who comment about her latest outburst by defending her behaviour. If you like her policy and that is why you support her I am NOT talking about you.

Take a look at this behaviour. Look at Hillary objectively, look at how she spends her money, who she gets that money from, how her campaign has insulted millions of people she will need votes from later if she wins the primary. This isn't her first mockery though. Notice when she loses a state her campaign writes off the voters there with an insult.

She likes to say that she has been tested and can stand up to the right wing attack machine. Really?! She sees two mailers which are factual and she melts down? I have no doubt that if she faced republicans in a general election she would be in the fetal position by mid summer because if she things bringing up differences and facts are unfair boy does she have something coming with the republicans! It doesn't sound like she believes her own words about knowing how to deal with the right wing.

She claims Obama isn't being fair even though you can open her book and read her past statements to find the same information she is claiming is unfair. Well even if Obama were being unfair this is not how a president should behave.

The world won't always play fair, and we can't afford a president who will throw a tantrum every time someone doesn't kiss their ring.

Consider all of that and ask yourself truly, would you accept those actions from any other candidate? And as for the ready on day one claim can we honestly say this is how someone should behave under pressure?

Also remember that once our nominee leaves the relative shelter of the democratic primaries they will be at the mercy of the general political winds.

Independents, progressives who voted for another candidate, and even some republicans won't take kindly be being called too starry eyed, too young and dumb, too black, or too much of a trust fun baby for not voting with her.(Yes her campaign has suggested all of these things after she began losing)

People in the general election don't like being bullied into voting for someone and won't think twice about sending Hillary back to New York on a time out for her tantrums.

So in summary do as you want with your vote but lets not pretend that public tantrums of this nature are acceptable behaviour for a president.

Well-written, Jon! That's right -- tantrums don't make a president, they symbolize a person desperate to hold onto power.
