Saturday's Battleground: Washington State

Obama is expected to carry Nebraska and Louisiana with relative ease.  The real test will come in Washington State, where Obama's strong support in college towns will go head-to-head with Clinton's rural backing.  Being that it is my home state, I will cover it no other!

Let me second what I wrote in a comment to another post:

Most of Seattle, except for the part where I live, is solidlypro-Obama... Remember, we're coffee drinkers and collegeeducated....so that's Obama.

What I'm very worried about is rural Washington. I'm talking aboutSnohomish County, just 20 minutes north of the city limits. I'm alsotalking about south of Tacoma, Washington. Also, Wenatchee and Yakima, which are located in central-eastern Washington, are Clinton territory.Spokane, Washington....which is in the far east, is very pro-Obama.It's a college town where Gonzaga University is located. I haverelatives over there. Their friends are caucusing for Obama. Down inPullman, Washington, south of Spokane, is where Washington StateUniversity is located. That is another Obama stronghold.

So what does all this mean? It means Washington will go to Obamaunless rural western Washington (in the counties south and north ofSeattle) are strongly Clinton. We need high turnout in college towns(Seattle, Bellingham, Pullman, and Spokane).

Here is a map of Washington, to get familiar with the area.  Lastly, Obama is in Seattle on Friday at 11 AM at Key Arena.

Washington can be the beginning of Obama's run to the nomination.

Make it happen. Change the world, Washington

George/Todd, I'm still having reservations about switching to Obama. Yes, he's a great motivational speaker and makes people feel good, but what are his past accomplishments? I'm not talking about bills he introduced or co-signed, that didn't go anywhere, I want to know the hard facts on his achievements besides being a good speaker. Saying the word "change" ten times in each sentence does not make a good leader, it only uses the same line Bill Clinton used to get elected in 1992 -- "It's time for a change". In 1992 everyone was repeating that slogan and it seems to be used by Obama and Hillary again. Prior to running for office, Obama was a good community organizer, so I can give him a "kudo" for that. His stance against the war is fine, but it was only an opinion at the time, as he was not yet in the Senate to vote for or against it. So where do I find his accomplishments, not his opinions? And yes, I am posting this to stir conversation on the subject -- but we need this conversation to fully vet the best candidate. So, in the same essence, what are hillary's accomplishments, etc...? We need some discussion from the masses that read this site, not just a site devoted to help one candidate win. RJ

Have worked by butt off in Nevada and California for Obama. Now it's time for Washington to step up and bring it home. We're counting on you guys.

Let's do it, Washington!

Hillary Clinton is in Tacoma, WA and Barack is in Seattle at the moment. Hillary has stepped up her fundraising, to her credit. But when Obama continues to blanket the February states and put them in the "win" column, he will grow more difficult for Hillary to continuously bring in cash.

Hi guys. I've been an Obama backer since the beginning. I have just recently found this site-- its now on my favorite list. Anyway, I just wanted to say I hope you folks in Washington can put one in the win column for us today. Go Obama!

Thanks, Bill! We're going to do everything in our power to carry Washington! Many of us who have visited this site since 2004 have always been for Obama as well. America needs his inspiration, and I will fight for every last vote today at my caucus.
