Todd, I don't believe it's costing any jobs. It seems Boeing has said it will not need to lay-off any workers due to not winning the bid. Also, the winner, Northrop Grumman, will be hiring around 2,000 Americans in Mobile, Alabama to assemble the aircraft. Also, each aircraft has parts made in foreign countries. The Northrup/EADS has slightly more foreign parts, but the Air Force ensured all classified equipment was kept under U.S. control. Yes, the people and elected officials in the Northwest are upset, but the people and elected officials in Alabama are greatful. The Northrup/EADS aircraft is bigger, can carry more fuel and payload, and uses less fuel per flying hour than the Boeing aircraft. It is also a newer design verses and old Boeing aircraft. So, it seems the Air Force bought the best aircraft for America and our forces -- without politics playing a hand in the selection. As an ex-Air Force person, I would have selected the same aircraft for our fighting forces and so would all the AF people I have spoken to. We got the aircraft we needed, not the aircraft the politicians wanted.

I wonder how many people think French people really sound like that... It is like thinking asians are white people with narrow eyes and buck teeth.
