Michael Moore endorses Obama

Fresh off the wires today, filmmaker Michael Moore is endorsing Barack Obama for president:

I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr.Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his faceas part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America.Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say thatwhen she and her husband were having marital difficulties regardingMonica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"

But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. Itwouldn't be decent. She's been through enough hurt. And so he remainssilent and takes the mud she throws in his face.

That's why the crowds who come to see him are so large. That's whyhe'll take us down a more decent path. That's why I would vote for himif Michigan were allowed to have an election.

I don't care what anyone says -- in the primaries, this will help him, if anything.

Todd, granted you have shown Michael Moore's words -- and thus they are not your words -- but is there any proof that Rev. Wright was there as anything more than one of the hundreds of guests that attended the event pictured (on the link)? If not, can we just assume his attendance and "thank-you" letters were one of the thousands given by presidents during their tenure to people they greet and take pictures with on a near constant basis? If there is proof of a more indepth involvement, can Michael Moore display it for all to see?

Todd, here is another excerpt from Michael Moore's statement.

"It's foolish to see the Democrats as anything but a nicer version of a party that exists to do the bidding of the corporate elite in this country. Any endorsement of a Democrat must be done with this acknowledgement and a hope that one day we will have a party that'll represent the people first, and laws that allow that party an equal voice.'

Are we now to believe that being a Democrat means we're just picking the lesser of the two evils (Dem vs. Rep)? Also, does his statement not insinuate that Obama is just the lesser of the two Dem evils? This seems to be what is commonly called a "left-handed compliment" from Michael Moore.

Moore deserves a tremendous amount of credit for what he wrote. Clinton's tactics have been execrable.

You would have to be nieve to a fault, to not see who is against change right now. The list is much too long and all the usual suspects. Support Obama and let your Delegates to the convention know you support change, want change and expect change in this election. After 8 longs years of the "stay the course" and actually it is since the Nixon presidency. It would be a travesty to continue the status quo. and yes Hillary is the queen of quo.
